The Wonder Base and The Creative Site are designed as shared learning spaces open to all. The inaugural exhibition, The Ongoing Nature, features large-scale art installations set in the spacious galleries, inspired by the interplay between natural landscapes and human-made environments. Reflecting the museum’s rich ecological surroundings, the exhibition encourages visitors to engage in collective art-making. Through art, it provides a space for visitors to connect with their bodies, memories, and the ever-evolving relationship between nature and the environment.
In The Wonder Base, two artists present site-specific works: Mind Map–River by Kuo I-chen and Shift Light Basin by Xin Qi. Mind Map–River places aerial photos of the Tamsui River basin from the 1960s and the early 20s side by side. Visitors are invited to construct miniature buildings on the map, transforming it into a collaborative artwork that blends reality and memory to create a shared vision map. Shift Light Basin shapes expansive landscapes of mountains and rivers using vibrant fabric bags and mixed materials. The artwork immerses visitors in a Lilliputian forest with a mystical atmosphere as they walk through the space. This installation features the dynamic interaction between humans and nature, highlighting the cycles of human intervention and natural recovery.
In collaboration with artists Hsu Shih-hsien, Liu Chih-hung and Goldilocks Production, The Creative Site features Nature Lesson in the Art Classroom. This project uses drawing as a method to connect the body with the surrounding environment featuring workshops on collecting natural materials and environmental fieldwork. These activities inspire nature-based creation and the exploration of unexpected drawing action . During the exhibition, the gallery transforms into a dynamic art classroom where doodling and emotional expression through the creative process embody the exhibition concept.
